Patton, George Jr (1885-1945) U.S. Army officer; one of the finest practioneers of mobile tank warfare; known for his eccentricity and outspokenness. Partly-printed Document Signed ("G S Patton Jr.") as Major, Third Cavalry, 10½ x 8 inches, Fort Myer, Virginia, Sept. 1, 1933. An Honorable Discharge from The Army of the United States for Thomas J. Rogers, Sergeant, Machine Gun Troop, Third Cavalry, by reason of the expiration of his service. Rogers' service record on the verso is signed by Callie H. Palmer as Captain, Third Cavaly. Two file holes punched at top, else fine.

Perry, Mathew C (1794-1858) Commodore of the U.S. Navy; he compelled the opening of Japan to the West with the Convention of Kanagawa in 1854. Letter Signed ("M.C. Perry"), one page, 10 x 7¾ inches, aboard the U.S. Ship Concord, Portsmouth Lower Road, Dec. 10, 1832. To Commander William Crane, commander of the Naval Station at Portsmouth, N.H. transmitting two reports (not present) addressed to the President of the Board of Navy Commissioners. Docket on integral leaf, ink slightly light, else fine and a scarce letter signed.

Wellington, Duke of - Arthur Wellesley (1759-1852) British general; defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo; twice British prime minister. Autograph Letter Signed, 2½ pages, 7 x 4½ inches, London, May 11, 1826. To "My dear Duke," answering his letter regarding an appointment for a cadet at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. Matted and framed to 12 x 14 inches. Some age toning and soiling.
